The Initial Spark
From the initial spark through each step along the way it has been an interesting journey getting EZ Sleep Solutions up on its feet. I can name names but I won’t (for now). Why sleep humor? I’m a sleep enthusiast who loves to laugh, shoot video and help others sleep better. In addition there are compelling statistics on the healing qualities of humor and laughter.
My mom passed away in May at age 93, in her sleep, in her home. I was fortunate to be with her a few hours after she passed and could still feel her presence. She had one eye slightly opened and I could see this light radiating from her. In her memory, I decided to use part of the inheritance I received toward launching this site. Thank you mom.
I’m thrilled that Susun Weed agreed to do an interview. She talked about her time with Elizabeth Kubler-Ross when Elizabeth said human beings don’t need sleep, what they need is rest. Sleep is secondary to rest. That is a very foreign concept to mainstream thinking. Susun highly recommends an infusion or tincture of Motherwort to relieve the anxiety associated with insomnia. Please give a listen to the interview in our Article/Interview section.
A great website to check out is www.sleepnet.com. They have an excellent message board for insomnia. A few points that helped me: “By looking too closely at insomnia — by focusing on trying to fix it — I think we’re actually going against the laws of nature. I often find myself in bed “checking” to see if these new things are working. They never are. ” “The best things in life happen spontaneously, like falling in love or going to sleep. Planning often ruins all the fun…it takes away the realness. You can’t make yourself go to sleep any more than you can make yourself fall in love. ”
Thank you Lois Barth for all of our Friday afternoon discussions about sleep and marketing Skinny On Sleep programs to hotels. Thank you Myrna for your support and for putting up with my characters and obsessions. Thank you Lou for being the first Sleepytime Player to say yes. Thanks to all the Sleepytime Players with a special hug to the Snooze Fairy.
So, what’s next? Well, we’ll showcase new products, videos and interviews, you know, update the site. We’ll invent new characters. I’m thinking about doing a short piece on bedtime rituals like brushing your teeth, patting the pillow, positioning yourself in bed and the sounds of sleep including yawning and snoring.
Watch for the roaming reporter conducting interviews with people in the street asking them to share a funny sleep story. Lastly Jam Jam Productions will be producing sleep music downloads for purchase on the site. First project: Bedtime Stories for Adults.
