Hot Flash News

According to the National Sleep Foundation, 61% of menopausal women have sleep problems. That is huge and it’s a 5-10 year program. There’s a whole industry that has sprung up around Menopause and Sleep including low moisture sleepwear, hand-held fans, books, foods, Melatonin, Estroven, and MeAgain products that supposedly manage Menopause and sleep.

It was different 15 years ago people didn’t talk so openly about Menopause. Well, I did. Wherever I was I’d announce “Is it hot in here?” There’s this woman in my meditation class who’s going through Menopause. She always wears a sleeveless top under her long sleeve blouse and twenty minutes into the class she rips off her blouse and lets out a heated sigh. I feel for her I honestly do yet I giggle.

When I was in the throes of Menopause nothing helped me not Black Cohosh not Soy not B6 I had hot flashes and I didn’t sleep. I was tempted to take HRT but I didn’t. I suffered through many years of hot flashes and sleepless nights. I would run out of a crowded store in a claustrophobic panic. I became a roly-poly with a permanent fanny pack of blubber at my waist. I was always hot and sweaty then chilled and shivering, top on, top off, layers on, layers off. People at the time would try to make me feel better by saying “think of it as a power surge” yeah, well, it felt more like a heat wave.

I tried everything. I ate tofu three times a week. Soy products contain a plant hormone called phytoestrogen that supposedly acts as a weak estrogen. Studies suggest it may lessen hot flashes, but there are no consistent results for its ability to relieve them. It never worked for me.

I tried Black Cohosh. Black Cohosh is a perennial plant that is a member of the buttercup family and became very popular in the treatment of hot flashes. In several studies, menopausal women who took black cohosh experienced relief from hot flashes and sweating, although most of these studies have been short-term. I think it might of helped but I’m not sure yet I took it anyway.

In time my hot flashes subsided though I still have night sweats. That is the most difficult part of Menopause the night sweats and loss of sleep. Fortunately there is greater information today with far more products available then there were 15 years ago. EZ Sleep Solutions is committed to exploring various products that help with sleep including products that help with night sweats and Menopause. If you haven’t listened to the Susun Weed interview on our site please do she talks about remedies for sleep and she did write the best selling book The Menopausal Years.

  10. There ought to be frequent adjustment within the dosage of ambien, for anyone who is taking other medications which are employed to treat central nervous method diseases. Doctors guidance to take the drug together with the food or just immediately after the food as it delays the absorption of the pill and enhances your sleep patterns but at the maximum drug ought to begin working twenty minutes following its consumption. You need to not reduce ambien dosage suddenly because in case you do so it might result in rebound insomnia, gastrointestinal disorders and sleeplessness. ambien dosage
